HAPKIDO HAWAII INSTRUCTORS:

At Hapkido Hawaii it is an honor to be appointed an instructor.  Instructors are chosen from among the individuals who actively train on the Dojang floor and contribute the growth of the Dojang.  Those who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication are recognized, and asked to help pass forward the knowledge within the Dojang.  All instructors go through a five step instructor training program.  It takes approximately ten years to complete the Instructor Training Program.  Practice is mother of skill, and practice takes place on the training floor.  Individuals listed here are the most current Hapkido Hawaii instructors.

Instructors:

Only the Black Belts who are given a instructor title and who are currently active on the teaching floor are listed.  For a comprehensive list of all the black belts trained in Hawaii, please visit the association website listed below.

You May Search Past Instructors in our Martial Arts Association Website.
PLEASE BE AWARE:
Over the years Mr.O has trained many Black Belts who have  went off their own way.  Some Black Belts retired from training yet still wanted all the recognitions as though they were still sweating it out on the training floor with the rest.  Many Black Belts in other styles have also trained with Mr.O short time, for the sake of using his name on their credentials.
Because of these unfortunate issues, having been trained at one time or another by Mr.O does not mean current affiliation with Mr.O.
Mr.O trains each Black Belt himself.  It takes a lot to train a black belt by Mr.O's standards, even to the lowest level of black belt which is a first degree.
Only the Schools, Black Belts and Master Instructors listed in the association database are affiliated with Mr.O and with Hapkido Hawaii.

Following the thousands of year old martial arts tradition of offering the "best humanly possible" Not necessarily the "best that will sell to the masses."

HAPKIDO HAWAII, INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS:

We maintain the highest Martial Arts Industry Standard for Black Belt Instructor Training.  This standard is set according to the traditional learning criteria for a martial artist, not necessarily according to modern day norm.  Our instructor training criteria is based on how martial arts instructors have been trained for past four thousand years.  This obviously is not the criteria that has been around only about sixty years.   It definitely is not the standard for the average shopping mall martial arts studio.  Before you shop for a Martial Arts School, please compare the below criteria:

Teaching Qualifications of The Instructors:
All Hapkido Hawaii Instructors go through an extensive five step Instructor Training Program, which includes a teaching apprenticeship and practicum.  Just like the Martial Arts Instructors of the past, our instructors are also trained in all aspects of martial arts, including Eastern Healing Arts.  At higher rank levels our Instructors are trained in Acupuncture, Traditional Herbal Medicine, Ancient Movement Therapies and many other modalities.  If you are not familiar with why this type of training is such an important part of martial arts, click here.

News - We have upgraded our Bio-Medical Sciences Requirements for our instructors.  The new Bio-Med Requirements consist of twenty two separate segments of study, with emphasis on Human Anatomy and Physiology.

Skills of the Instructors:
All of our instructors are exceptional athletes with a variety of martial arts specialties.  Only best of the best are given the honors and titles associated with Instructorship.

"The learned ability to transform oneself to a level beyond perceived limitations ... is the key to higher achievement."
